Two Recorded Studio Versions
Like several other songs by Otis Redding, "I've Been Loving You Too Long" was recorded on two different sessions, with an actual variation of some 20 seconds in the duration:
- Mid April 1965, 2:49, mono version, probably w/ Isaac Hayes on piano, the most usual version, which means the written time on the record is almost always untrue.
- Early July 1965, 3:09-3:14, stereo version, w/ Booker T. Jones on piano, available in the 3-CD boxset The Story of Otis Redding and among the 3 studio versions included in the 2-CD Collector's edition 2008 Rhino reissue of Otis Blue.

Famous quotes containing the words recorded, studio and/or versions:
“It is in the very nature of things human that every act that has once made its appearance and has been recorded in the history of mankind stays with mankind as a potentiality long after its actuality has become a thing of the past.”
—Hannah Arendt (19061975)
“Surely it is one of the requisites of a tasteful garb that the expression of effort to please shall be wanting in it; that the mysteries of the toilet shall not be suggested by it; that the steps to its completion shall be knocked away like the sculptors ladder from the statue, and the mental force expended upon it be swept away out of sight like the chips on the studio floor.”
—Elizabeth Stuart Phelps (18441911)
“The assumption must be that those who can see value only in tradition, or versions of it, deny mans ability to adapt to changing circumstances.”
—Stephen Bayley (b. 1951)
