I've Been Loving You Too Long - Two Recorded Studio Versions

Two Recorded Studio Versions

Like several other songs by Otis Redding, "I've Been Loving You Too Long" was recorded on two different sessions, with an actual variation of some 20 seconds in the duration:

  1. Mid April 1965, 2:49, mono version, probably w/ Isaac Hayes on piano, the most usual version, which means the written time on the record is almost always untrue.
  2. Early July 1965, 3:09-3:14, stereo version, w/ Booker T. Jones on piano, available in the 3-CD boxset The Story of Otis Redding and among the 3 studio versions included in the 2-CD Collector's edition 2008 Rhino reissue of Otis Blue.

Famous quotes containing the words recorded, studio and/or versions:

It is in the very nature of things human that every act that has once made its appearance and has been recorded in the history of mankind stays with mankind as a potentiality long after its actuality has become a thing of the past.
    Hannah Arendt (1906–1975)

[T]hose wholemeal breads ... look hand-thrown, like studio pottery, and are fine if you have all your teeth. But if not, then not. Perhaps the rise ... of the ... factory-made loaf, which may easily be mumbled to a pap betweeen gums, reflects the sorry state of the nation’s dental health.
    Angela Carter (1940–1992)

The assumption must be that those who can see value only in tradition, or versions of it, deny man’s ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
    Stephen Bayley (b. 1951)
