The series also inspired the spin-off show Denis Norden's Laughter File, which started on 22 September 1991 and ran until 13 May 2006. Although it largely followed the same format as its sister show, while It'll be Alright on the Night focused solely on bloopers/outtakes, Laughter File also screened clips that included pranks and practical jokes.

Famous quotes containing the words laughter and/or file:
“Laughter on American television has taken the place of the chorus in Greek tragedy.... In other countries, the business of laughing is left to the viewers. Here, their laughter is put on the screen, integrated into the show. It is the screen that is laughing and having a good time. You are simply left alone with your consternation.”
—Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
“I have been a soreheaded occupant of a file drawer labeled Science Fiction ... and I would like out, particularly since so many serious critics regularly mistake the drawer for a urinal.”
—Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. (b. 1922)
