Italy of Values (Italia dei Valori, IdV) is a centrist, populist and anti-corruption political party in Italy. The party is headed by former Mani pulite prosecutor Antonio Di Pietro, who entered politics in 1996.
The party aims at gathering and giving voice to different sectors of the Italian society. From the beginning of its existence one of its major issues has been the so-called "moral issue". At European level, the IdV party is member of the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party (ELDR) and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE).
In the 2009 European Parliament election, IdV was the fourth largest party in the country. Two of its leading members, Luigi de Magistris and Leoluca Orlando, are mayors of Naples and Palermo respectively.

Famous quotes containing the words italy and/or values:
“I think sometimes that it is almost a pity to enjoy Italy as much as I do, because the acuteness of my sensations makes them rather exhausting; but when I see the stupid Italians I have met here, completely insensitive to their surroundings, and ignorant of the treasures of art and history among which they have grown up, I begin to think it is better to be an American, and bring to it all a mind and eye unblunted by custom.”
—Edith Wharton (18621937)
“Our first line of defense in raising children with values is modeling good behavior ourselves. This is critical. How will our kids learn tolerance for others if our hearts are filled with hate? Learn compassion if we are indifferent? Perceive academics as important if soccer practice is a higher priority than homework?”
—Fred G. Gosman (20th century)
