Islamic Sects

This article summarizes the different branches in Islam. The Quran does not allow any type of divisions in Islam. The branches of Islam may or may not be regarded as divisions by the Muslims, but yes they have created divisions amongst Muslims.

3:103 And hold fast, all together, by the ROPE (THE QURAN) which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves; and remember with gratitude Allah's favour on you; for ye were enemies and He joined your hearts in love, so that by His Grace, ye became brethren; and ye were on the brink of the pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus doth Allah make His Signs clear to you: That ye may be guided.

6:159 Those who divide themselves into sects do not belong with you. Their judgment rests with GOD, then He will inform them of everything they had done.

6:160 Whoever does a righteous work receives the reward for ten, and the one who commits a sin is requited for only one. No one suffers the slightest injustice.
