Islam In Tanzania

Islam is, as of 2007, the religion in Tanzania with more than 50% of the population of the mainland (Tanganyika) and more than 99% of the population on the island of Zanzibar being Muslim. The majority are Sunni with unusually significant Shia and Ahmadi minorities in sub-Saharan Africa. Pew Forum identifies 20% as Shia while 15% as Ahmadi.
