Towers of Gold

The great-great granddaughter of Hellman, Frances Dinkelspiel, wrote a book depicting Hellman's life. The book, Towers of Gold: How One Jewish Immigrant Named Isaias Hellman Created California, was published by St. Martins Press in November 2008. It was a San Francisco Chronicle bestseller and was named a notable book of 2008 by the Chronicle. It won a 2009 Best Book of the year award by the Northern California Independent Booksellers Association.
