Irit Rosenblum

Irit Rosenblum is an Israeli advocate and human rights leader and the founder and executive director of the New Family Organization. She is a member of the Israeli Bar Association and served as a presiding judge in the police disciplinary court.

Family law in Israel is a complicated as it mixes religious issues, family issues and government issues that sometimes are conflicting. Rosenblum, through her work with New Family, has led challenges to Israeli family law. This includes gaining recognition for same-sex families, issuing Common-Law Marriage ID’s, which are recognized in official government bodies, the Biological Will Initiative, and promoting parenthood and family through reproductive technologies.

Rosenblum established New Family to assist all those who encounter legal barriers in establishing their families, or who are deterred by bureaucracy.
