The Iqaluit Public Transit system operated from July 2003 to January 2005 to provide public transportation in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada. Mounting costs and low ridership forced city council to cancel the service in late 2004 and it ceased operations in January 2005.
Famous quotes containing the words public and/or transit:
“For public opinion does not admit that lofty rapturous laughter is worthy to stand beside lofty lyrical emotion and that there is all the difference in the world between it and the antics of a clown at a fair.”
—Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol (18091852)
“We only seem to learn from Life that Life doesnt matter so much as it seemed to doits not so burningly important, after all, what happens. We crawl, like blinking sea-creatures, out of the Ocean onto a spur of rock, we creep over the promontory bewildered and dazzled and hurting ourselves, then we drop in the ocean on the other side: and the little transit doesnt matter so much.”
—D.H. (David Herbert)
