Arts Program
Iona's performing arts program is well known in the Mississauga area for its annual Musical Play, written by Siobhan Duffy, the drama teacher.
In September 2007, Iona began its first year of the Regional Arts Program (RAP) for grade nine students, allowing them to take either Dance, Drama, Art, or Music for both semesters as their major. In December 2007, Iona hosted their first Arts night as an arts school in their cafetorium (cafeteria/ auditorium). They continued this tradition twice a year, once for Christmas and once for spring. In December 2008 Iona transferred their Arts Night from the cafetorium to the RBC theater in Mississauga Living Arts Center. Due to the popular demand, they transferred to a bigger theater, Hammerson Hall, which is also in Mississauga Living Arts Center.
The faculty in Iona has been rated one of the best in Ontario and the academic acceleration rate of students is fairly high with an overall school average of 87%.
