InterVarsity Christian Fellowship

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA is an inter-denominational, evangelical Christian, student-led ministry which for the past 70 years has been dedicated to establishing witnessing communities on U.S. college and university campuses. In the 2011-2012 school year, 1014 campus staff members worked with over 37,000 students and faculty in 893 chapters on 576 campuses in the United States. (Some campuses may have separate outreaches to international students, sororities and fraternities, and ethnic minority groups, as well as career-specific graduate student chapters.)

InterVarsity is governed by a Board of Trustees. Alec Hill is the president of InterVarsity/USA, working with a seven-member cabinet. InterVarsity is a charter member of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students, a network of similar campus ministries around the world. InterVarsity is a tax exempt organization under the provisions of Section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. In the fiscal year ending 30 June 2011, InterVarsity had $82.9M in revenue (with almost 70% coming from charitable donations) and $80.7M in expenditures. InterVarsity is also a charter member in the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), and uses more than 85% of its revenue for staffworker salaries and other on-campus work, and is rated 4 stars (out of 4) by Charity Navigator.

Famous quotes containing the words christian and/or fellowship:

The deadly monotony of Christian country life where there are no beggars to feed, no drunkards to credit, which are among the moral duties of Christians in cities, leads as naturally to the outvent of what Methodists call “revivals” as did the backslidings of the people in those days.
    Corra May Harris (1869–1935)

There is a fellowship more quiet even than solitude, and which, rightly understood, is solitude made perfect.
    Robert Louis Stevenson (1850–1894)
