In India a medical student does 5 and half years of medical school(MBBS degree).After this they have to do 1 year of rotating internship(compulsory) in various specialties.Once they do this they are licensed to practice medicine as primary care doctors. The veterinary and dental sciences students too undergo compulsory internships for 6 months without which degree requirements are not considered full and professional license to practise is not entrusted to an individual.
