International Women's Media Foundation - Lifetime Achievement Awards

Lifetime Achievement Awards

Each year the IWMF honors women who have had groundbreaking careers in journalism with the Lifetime Achievement Awards. These veteran journalists have shattered glass ceilings, elevated the principles of journalistic practice and become role models. Award recipients include Alma Guillermoprieto from Mexico (2010), Amira Hass from Israel (2009) and Edith Lederer from the United States (2008)

Famous quotes containing the words lifetime and/or achievement:

You have a lifetime to work, but children are only young once.
—Polish Proverb. New York Times Magazine (February 20, 1994)

Parents can fail to cheer your successes as wildly as you expected, pointing out that you are sharing your Nobel Prize with a couple of other people, or that your Oscar was for supporting actress, not really for a starring role. More subtly, they can cheer your successes too wildly, forcing you into the awkward realization that your achievement of merely graduating or getting the promotion did not warrant the fireworks and brass band.
    Frank Pittman (20th century)
