International Women's Media Foundation - Lifetime Achievement Awards

Lifetime Achievement Awards

Each year the IWMF honors women who have had groundbreaking careers in journalism with the Lifetime Achievement Awards. These veteran journalists have shattered glass ceilings, elevated the principles of journalistic practice and become role models. Famous quotes containing the words lifetime and/or achievement:

The greatest part of each day, each year, each lifetime is made up of small, seemingly insignificant moments. Those moments may be cooking dinner...relaxing on the porch with your own thoughts after the kids are in bed, playing catch with a child before dinner, speaking out against a distasteful joke, driving to the recycling center with a week’s newspapers. But they are not insignificant, especially when these moments are models for kids.
    Barbara Coloroso (20th century)

The crown of literature is poetry. It is its end and aim. It is the sublimest activity of the human mind. It is the achievement of beauty and delicacy. The writer of prose can only step aside when the poet passes.
    W. Somerset Maugham (1874–1966)
