Famous quotes containing the words wheel of fortune, versions, wheel and/or fortune:

The wheel of fortune guide you,
The boy with the bow beside you
    Run aye in the way
    Till the bird of day
And the luckier lot betide you.
    Ben Jonson (1572–1637)

The assumption must be that those who can see value only in tradition, or versions of it, deny man’s ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
    Stephen Bayley (b. 1951)

Men seem more bound to the wheel of success than women do. That women are trained to get satisfaction from affiliation rather than achievement has tended to keep them from great achievement. But it has also freed them from unreasonable expectations about the satisfactions that professional achievement brings.
    Phyllis Rose (b. 1942)

Rare is the virtue that’s not ruled by Fortune,
That stands unshaken even when Fortune flees.
    Ovid (Publius Ovidius Naso)
