International Press Center (Brussels)

In July 2000 the Belgian federal government decided to create an International press centre (IPC) in Brussels.

The Government's eye fell on the Résidence Palace in the heart of the city's European quarter. The opening of the press centre coincided with the start of the Belgian Presidency of the European Union on July 2, 2001. Since then the International Press Centre Résidence Palace has become the meeting place par excellence for journalists, policymakers, spokesmen and communication experts from Belgium and abroad.

Famous quotes containing the words press and/or center:

The press and politicians. A delicate relationship. Too close, and danger ensues. Too far apart and democracy itself cannot function without the essential exchange of information. Creative leaks, a discreet lunch, interchange in the Lobby, the art of the unattributable telephone call, late at night.
    Howard Brenton (b. 1942)

Death is someone you see very clearly with eyes in the center of your heart: eyes that see not by reacting to light, but by reacting to a kind of a chill from within the marrow of your own life.
    Thomas Merton (1915–1968)
