The International Federation of Vexillological Associations (FIAV) is an international federation of 55 regional, national, and multinational associations and institutions across the globe that study vexillology, which FIAV defines in its constitution as "the creation and development of a body of knowledge about flags of all types, their forms and functions, and of scientific theories and principles based on that knowledge." The translations of FIAV’s French name into the other three official FIAV languages are the Fédération internationale des associations vexillologiques (FIAV) (French), the Internationale Föderation Vexillologischer Gesellschaften (German), and the Federación Internacional de Asociaciones Vexilológicas (Spanish).

Famous quotes containing the words federation and/or associations:
“Women realize that we are living in an ungoverned world. At heart we are all pacifists. We should love to talk it over with the war-makers, but they would not understand. Words are so inadequate, and we realize that the hatred must kill itself; so we give our men gladly, unselfishly, proudly, patriotically, since the world chooses to settle its disputes in the old barbarous way.”
—General Federation Of Womens Clubs (GFWC)
“There are many ways of discarding [books]. You can give them to friends,or enemies,or to associations or to poor Southern libraries. But the surest way is to lend them. Then they never come back to bother you.”
—Carolyn Wells (1862?1942)
