International Federation Of Football History & Statistics

The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) is an organization that chronicles the history and records of association football. It was founded on 27 March 1984 at Leipzig (East Germany) by Dr. Alfredo Pöge with the blessings of general secretary of the FIFA at the time, Dr. Helmut Käser. In 2006 the IFFHS based at Borsigallee 15, 53125 Bonn, Germany.

During its early stages, and through the years until 2002, the IFFHS concentrated on publishing quarterly magazines like Fußball-Weltzeitschrift, Libero spezial deutsch, and Libero international. When these had to be discontinued for reasons which were not officially told, the organization published its material in a series of multi-lingual books in co-operation with sponsors. The statistical organization has now confined its publishing activities to its website, receiving logistical support from FIFA, organization that recognise the IFFHS and its work although the latter has no affiliation with the football's governing body. The magazine's back issues can still be obtained through internet sources.

Famous quotes containing the words federation, football, history and/or statistics:

Women realize that we are living in an ungoverned world. At heart we are all pacifists. We should love to talk it over with the war-makers, but they would not understand. Words are so inadequate, and we realize that the hatred must kill itself; so we give our men gladly, unselfishly, proudly, patriotically, since the world chooses to settle its disputes in the old barbarous way.
—General Federation Of Women’s Clubs (GFWC)

... in the minds of search committees there is the lingering question: Can she manage the football coach?
    Donna E. Shalala (b. 1941)

Those who weep for the happy periods which they encounter in history acknowledge what they want; not the alleviation but the silencing of misery.
    Albert Camus (1913–1960)

We already have the statistics for the future: the growth percentages of pollution, overpopulation, desertification. The future is already in place.
    Günther Grass (b. 1927)
