International Community School (ICS) was founded in 1993 by a group of parents from different nationalities and walks of life. Their goal was to establish a Christian school in Singapore to serve the needs of both corporate and missionary expatriates.
ICS is the only Christian international school in Singapore. It is a mid-sized school of over 400 students, offering instruction from preschool (age 3) through Grade 12 (pre-university), using an American-based curriculum. United States citizens comprise nearly half of the student body, and the remaining students represent 25 countries.
The staff body consists of over 40 well-qualified ICS faculty members coming mostly from the US; however, the faculty also represents graduates from universities in Canada, Australia, Singapore, and Sweden. Class sizes average between 15-20 students, allowing each student to receive a maximum amount of individual attention. Teachers are involved in the students’ overall well-being through after school activities including athletics programs and Bible study programs.
ICS is a member of the Network of International Christian Schools (NICS), an interdenominational mission organization with its headquarters in the USA. It is fully accredited by both the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). It is also registered with the Ministry of Education (Singapore) (MOE).
Famous quotes containing the words community and/or school:
“When you have come into the land that the LORD your God is giving you, and have taken possession of it and settled in it, and you say, I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are around me, you may indeed set over you a king whom the LORD your God will choose. One of your own community you may set as king over you; you are not permitted to put a foreigner over you, who is not of your own community.”
—Bible: Hebrew, Deuteronomy 17:14,15.
“At school boys become gluttons and slovens, and, instead of cultivating domestic affections, very early rush into the libertinism which destroys the constitution before it is formed; hardening the heart as it weakens the understanding.”
—Mary Wollstonecraft (17591797)
