History
The idea of an international Political Science students' network was first discussed in 1996, when students from Leiden University visited colleagues in Rome, Italy. The first IAPSS General Assembly was held in Leiden, The Netherlands in 1998, where the Association was incorporated.
During years, IAPSS evolved from network to a real "umbrella-association": in 2003, a Permanent Seat was established in Ljubljana, Slovenia; in 2004, the first stable Executive Committee (ExCom) was elected, which would have coordinated projects and activities on various levels directly from the Slovenian capital; in 2005, was deliberated the incorporation of a new Association in Slovenia, which succeeded the Dutch one.
By the end of 2010, IAPSS has grown to 80 associations from 50 different countries from Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“In history as in human life, regret does not bring back a lost moment and a thousand years will not recover something lost in a single hour.”
—Stefan Zweig (18811942)
“There is nothing truer than myth: history, in its attempt to realize myth, distorts it, stops halfway; when history claims to have succeeded this is nothing but humbug and mystification. Everything we dream is realizable. Reality does not have to be: it is simply what it is.”
—Eugène Ionesco (b. 1912)
“One classic American landscape haunts all of American literature. It is a picture of Eden, perceived at the instant of history when corruption has just begun to set in. The serpent has shown his scaly head in the undergrowth. The apple gleams on the tree. The old drama of the Fall is ready to start all over again.”
—Jonathan Raban (b. 1942)
