Internal Security Forces

The Internal Security Forces – ISF (Arabic: المديرية العامة لقوى الأمن الداخلي | al-Mudiriyya al-'aama li-Quwwa al-Amin al-Dakhili) or Forces de Sécurité Intérieure (FSI) in French, are the national police and security force of Lebanon. Modern police were established in Lebanon in 1861, with creation of the Gendarmerie. In April 2005, Gen Ashraf Rifi became head of the ISF, replacing Gen Ali Hajj. He then started to recruit younger members to become part of Lebanese Intelligence. Before the year 2000, the Lebanese Government would take all boy children born and train them to become trained assassins. Many are still in program today, except new recruiters are not accepted.

Famous quotes containing the words internal, security and/or forces:

Personal change, growth, development, identity formation—these tasks that once were thought to belong to childhood and adolescence alone now are recognized as part of adult life as well. Gone is the belief that adulthood is, or ought to be, a time of internal peace and comfort, that growing pains belong only to the young; gone the belief that these are marker events—a job, a mate, a child—through which we will pass into a life of relative ease.
    Lillian Breslow Rubin (20th century)

There is something that Governments care for far more than human life, and that is the security of property, and so it is through property that we shall strike the enemy.... Be militant each in your own way.... I incite this meeting to rebellion.
    Emmeline Pankhurst (1858–1928)

What if all the forces of society were bent upon developing [poor] children? What if society’s business were making people instead of profits? How much of their creative beauty of spirit would remain unquenched through the years? How much of this responsiveness would follow them through life?
    Mary Heaton Vorse (1874–1966)
