- accommodate new problem solving rules incrementally
- adapt online and in real time
- be able to analyze itself in terms of behavior, error and success.
- learn and improve through interaction with the environment (embodiment)
- learn quickly from large amounts of data
- have memory-based exemplar storage and retrieval capacities
- have parameters to represent short and long term memory, age, forgetting, etc.

Famous quotes containing the words variety and/or definitions:
“To invent without scruple a new principle to every new phenomenon, instead of adapting it to the old; to overload our hypothesis with a variety of this kind, are certain proofs that none of these principles is the just one, and that we only desire, by a number of falsehoods, to cover our ignorance of the truth.”
—David Hume (17111776)
“The loosening, for some people, of rigid role definitions for men and women has shown that dads can be great at calming babiesif they take the time and make the effort to learn how. Its that time and effort that not only teaches the dad how to calm the babies, but also turns him into a parent, just as the time and effort the mother puts into the babies turns her into a parent.”
—Pamela Patrick Novotny (20th century)
