Institute of Road & Transport Technology

The Institute of Road and Transport Technology (IRTT) is an engineering institution located in Chithode, Erode, India, run by the Transport Department of the government of Tamil Nadu and listed under category I colleges by the Directorate of Technical Education.

The Institute Of Road and Transport Technology was established in 1984 as an automobile research-oriented engineering college. It is run by all the transport corporations of the government of Tamil Nadu and is affiliated with Anna University, Coimbatore. It is located on a 350-acre (1.4 km2) campus. The institute was started by M. G. Ramachandran.

The institute offers four year undergraduate engineering courses in Automobile, Civil, CSE, ECE, EEE, IT, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as a two-year postgraduate ME (Structural Engineering) and a three-year postgraduate MCA course. The institute has an alumni association providing placement guidance to the students.

The management seats are allocated to the children of the transport corporation employees. Counselling for the management quota is conducted at Taramani, Chennai.
