Innovation Park at Pennsylvania State University is a business and research park covering 118 acres (0.48 km2) in State College, Pennsylvania, adjacent to the Penn State campus near the junction of Interstate 99 and U.S. Route 322.
The university's trustees designated the area for a research park in 1989. Initially known as the Penn State Research Park and opened in 1994, its stated mission was to be the "place where collaboration between the University and private sector companies can grow," and to facilitate the transfer of University-based knowledge "to the market place and to foster economic development". It was renamed Innovation Park at Penn State in July 2000.
The area is the location of a number of university offices, the Penn State World Campus, a conference center, and more than 25 private companies. The production facilities of WPSU-TV and WPSU-FM moved there in 2005.
Famous quotes containing the words innovation, park and/or state:
“Both cultures encourage innovation and experimentation, but are likely to reject the innovator if his innovation is not accepted by audiences. High culture experiments that are rejected by audiences in the creators lifetime may, however, become classics in another era, whereas popular culture experiments are forgotten if not immediately successful. Even so, in both cultures innovation is rare, although in high culture it is celebrated and in popular culture it is taken for granted.”
—Herbert J. Gans (b. 1927)
“Borrow a child and get on welfare.
Borrow a child and stay in the house all day with the child,
or go to the public park with the child, and take the child
to the welfare office and cry and say your man left you and
be humble and wear your dress and your smile, and dont talk
back ...”
—Susan Griffin (b. 1943)
“Such is my jealousy and such my hate
though I would state it otherwise.”
—Hilda Doolittle (18861961)
