Industrial Metal
Industrial metal draws from industrial music and heavy metal. It uses repeating metal guitar riffs, sampling, synthesizer or sequencer lines, and distorted vocals. Founding industrial metal groups include Ministry, Godflesh and KMFDM. Eventually it reached a mass audience, led by the "one-man-band" Nine Inch Nails. Industrial metal's new-found popularity led to some criticism from other artists associated with the industrial scene. Subsequently, it is most well known in various European permutations.

Famous quotes containing the words industrial and/or metal:
“Dead power is everywhere among usin the forest, chopping down the songs; at night in the industrial landscape, wasting and stiffening the new life; in the streets of the city, throwing away the day. We wanted something different for our people: not to find ourselves an old, reactionary republic, full of ghost-fears, the fears of death and the fears of birth. We want something else.”
—Muriel Rukeyser (19131980)
“There is a lot of talk now about metal detectors and gun control. Both are good things. But they are no more a solution than forks and spoons are a solution to world hunger.”
—Anna Quindlen (b. 1953)
