Sports
Sports has always held great importance for the students of I.L.S (football being the most popular by far), and there was no major organized sports movement until the appearance of Mrs Nandal, who managed to organize a sports week, in which all the houses go up against each other in various sports such as volleyball, football, cricket, kho-kho, basketball, table tennis etc. To facilitate the sports scene, I.L.S purchased a compound at 8, orimeji street, which has been converted into a sports complex of sorts. It has facilities for football, badminton and table tennis. The school plans to develop more facilities for the benefit of students and sports in the foreseeable future. Since the past few years ILS has had a Sports Committee, which discharges various sporting duties for development and maintenance with the guidance of the current Sports Teacher, Mrs. Seema Mishra. I.L.S participates in many inter-school tournaments, and has won quite a few. Students of ILS have made their name in many sports, particularly Basketball, Table Tennis, Cricket and Chess. National Trophies have been won in all these sports, while players have also made their name internationally in Basketball and Cricket.

Famous quotes containing the word sports:
“Come, my Celia, let us prove
While we may the sports of love;
Time will not be ours forever,
He at length our good will sever.”
—Ben Jonson (15721637)
“It was so hard to pry this door open, and if I mess up I know the people behind me are going to have it that much harder. Because then theres living proof. They can sit around and say, See? It doesnt work. I dont want to be their living proof.”
—Gayle Gardner, U.S. sports reporter. As quoted in Sports Illustrated, p. 87 (June 17, 1991)
“In the past, it seemed to make sense for a sportswriter on sabbatical from the playpen to attend the quadrennial hawgkilling when Presidential candidates are chosen, to observe and report upon politicians at play. After all, national conventions are games of a sort, and sports offers few spectacles richer in low comedy.”
—Walter Wellesley (Red)
