Subsidiaries

ITPO has two subsidiaries namely Karnataka Trade Promotion Organisation and TamilNadu Trade Promotion Organisation with share holding of 51% in each of them. With the commissioning of the state-of-the-art Chennai Trade Centre (CTC) in January 2001 and the Trade Centre Bangalore in September 2004, ITPO has successfully completed the first phase of the setting-up of modern exhibition facilities outside Delhi. The Chennai Trade Centre which addresses a long-felt need for a permanent and modern exhibition venue in Tamil Nadu, has already emerged as a hub of trade-related activities in the region. During the year 2006-07, CTC hosted 49 trade fairs and 85 conventions­ related programmes. Likewise, the formal commissioning of the Trade Centre Bangalore (TCB), at Whitefield on September 20, 2004 as a joint initiative of ITPO and the Karnataka State Industrial Area Development Board, is the harbinger of an added impetus to trade promotion through fairs, exhibitions and associated activities of the State and Southern region. During 2006-07,TCB hosted 21 trade-related events.

On the advice of Department of Commerce, ITPO has coordinated the construction of exhibition-cum-trade complex 'Maniram Dewan Trade Centre' for Assam Trade Promotion Organisation at Sarusajai, Guwahati under 'Assistance to Sates for Developing Export Infrastructure and Allied Activities (ASIDE)' Scheme, for facilitating trade in North-Eastern States. The Industry and Commerce Department in association with India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) developed the project with an outlay of Rs. 20.38 Crores which included interiors and furnishings. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) was formed in November 2007 under Section 25 of the Companies Act with contribution of Rs.10.00 Crores equity by Government of Assam, Rs.8.4 Crores in cash and Rs.1.6 Crores as the notional value of Land. Spread over an area of 10 acres on the NH-37, the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre under Phase-I of development consists of three fully air-conditioned halls of 800 sq.m. each,entrance lobby and plaza, mini convention-cum-conference room in a total plinth area of 8,700 sq.m.

ITPO is also providing assistance to State Governments in setting up Regional Trade Promotion Centres (RTPC) in various State's Capital and major cities. Initiatives have been taken by ITPO for establishing Trade Fair Complexes and Convention Centres at Kolkata, Bhopal and Srinagar, in close association by the State Governments and Industrial Development Corporations/Boards of these States.

ITPO also has a 50:50 Joint Venture namely ‘National Centre for Trade Information’ (NCTI) along with the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
