Incredibly Strange Wrestling (aka "ISW") was a San Francisco-based professional wrestling promotion, heavily influenced by masked Mexican Wrestling or Lucha Libre. The event combined wrestling matches with performances by Punk, Rockabilly, Garage, Psychobilly, and Thrash bands.
A tongue-in-cheek celebration of Lucha Libre, Incredibly Strange Wrestling was created as a nightclub event by Johnny Legend and August Ragone juxtaposing satirical matches with live musical performances. ISW also featured many semi- and pro-wrestlers from the California circuits, and eventually showcased several true-blue Luchadors from Mexico. The promotion ran continuously from 1995 until the early 2000s.

Famous quotes containing the words incredibly, strange and/or wrestling:
“Phenomenal nature shadows him wherever he goes. Clouds in the staring sky transmit to one another, by means of slow signs, incredibly detailed information regarding him. His inmost thoughts are discussed at nightfall, in manual alphabet, by darkly gesticulating trees. Pebbles or stains or sunflecks form patterns representing in some awful way messages which he must intercept. Everything is a cipher and of everything he is the theme.”
—Vladimir Nabokov (18991977)
“This strange thing must have crept
Right out of hell.
It resembles a birds foot
Worn around the cannibals neck.”
—Charles Simic (b. 1938)
“There are people who think that wrestling is an ignoble sport. Wrestling is not sport, it is a spectacle, and it is no more ignoble to attend a wrestled performance of suffering than a performance of the sorrows of Arnolphe or Andromaque.”
—Roland Barthes (19151980)
