Total Tax
The total tax is the sum of the taxes in the three boxes, minus EUR 2,043 (less for 65+), a tax credit not to be confused with a tax deduction; see also Heffingskorting (in Dutch)http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heffingskorting. The resulting amount of tax may be less than zero, in which case the amount is paid out, provided that one has a spouse and the tax of both together is not less than zero.

Famous quotes containing the words total and/or tax:
“I only know that a rook
Ordering its black feathers can so shine
As to seize me senses, haul
My eyelids up, and grant
A brief respite from fear
Of total neutrality.”
—Sylvia Plath (19321963)
“In 1845 he built himself a small framed house on the shores of Walden Pond, and lived there two years alone, a life of labor and study. This action was quite native and fit for him. No one who knew him would tax him with affectation. He was more unlike his neighbors in his thought than in his action. As soon as he had exhausted himself that advantages of his solitude, he abandoned it.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
