Other Cover Versions
Slovenian industrial band Laibach recorded a cover-version for their war-themed NATO album in 1994. In 2009, Les Enfoirés covered the song under the title "Ici Les Enfoirés", using the same tune, but changing the lyrics to ones in the French language. A German language version was released by the band Fee in 1987, titled Du mußt zur Bundeswehr.
The song was also performed by Lubeh (Любэ), famous Russian rock band.
On 26 September 2010, Status Quo released a new version of "In the Army Now" with the Corps Of Army Choir through Universal/UMC. All profits from this updated and lyrically changed version will be donated equally to the British Forces Foundation and Help For Heroes charities. This charted at #31 in the UK Singles charts upon its release.
In 2012, power metal band Sabaton covered this song as a bonus track for their album Carolus Rex.

“If I use the media, even with tricks, to publicise a black youth being shot in the back in Teaneck, New Jersey ... then I should be praised for it, and its more of a comment on them than me that it would take tricks to make them cover the loss of life.”
—Al, Rev. Sharpton (b. 1954)
“The assumption must be that those who can see value only in tradition, or versions of it, deny mans ability to adapt to changing circumstances.”
—Stephen Bayley (b. 1951)
