IMCA Modified

IMCA Modified is the top division sanctioned by the International Motor Contest Association. The series began in 1979.

The car bodies are a hybrid of an open wheel car and a stock car. The front tires have no body around them like an open wheel car, and the back wheels have a body around them like a stock car. The series has a $550 engine claim or $100 and exchange rule, and a one tire rule. As of August 29, 2010 the engine claimer rule has been suspended throughout the remainder of the 2010 racing season. Drivers are required to have an IMCA race driver license to compete in the series.

Famous quotes containing the word modified:

Poetry presents indivisible wholes of human consciousness, modified and ordered by the stringent requirements of form. Prose, aiming at a definite and concrete goal, generally suppresses everything inessential to its purpose; poetry, existing only to exhibit itself as an aesthetic object, aims only at completeness and perfection of form.
Richard Harter Fogle, U.S. critic, educator. The Imagery of Keats and Shelley, ch. 1, University of North Carolina Press (1949)
