Praise

If Americans Knew has been lauded by the liberal media monitoring organization Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR).

Weir was given honorary membership in the Phi Alpha Literary Society at Illinois College in 2004, the award citing her as "Courageous journalist-lecturer on behalf of human rights. The first woman to receive an honorary membership in Phi Alpha history."

The New York Times reported about a speech given by Weir in Greenwich, Connecticut: "When the speech ended, Ms. Weir was met with thunderous applause, and across the room there was a widespread sense of satisfaction that someone was saying what needed to be said."

Famous quotes containing the word praise:

My title’s sealed. Those that for claps do write,
Let pui’nies, porters’, players’ praise delight,
And, till they burst, their backs like asses load:
A man should seek great glory, and not broad.
    Ben Jonson (1572–1637)

Morning has broken like the first morning,
blackbird has spoken like the first bird.
Praise for the singing! Praise for the morning!
Praise for them, springing, fresh from the Word!
    Eleanor Farjeon (1881–1965)

Yet in spite of all they sang in praise of their “Eliza’s reign,” we have evidence that poets may be born and sing in our day, in the presidency of James K. Polk.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
