IETF PKIX Working Group - Scope and Standards

Scope and Standards

Although the PKIX-WG has accomplished its initial assignment, it was never dissolved — as is commonplace with WGs which exceed their initial scope of work.

Presently, the PKIX-WG profiles PKI standards of the International Telecommunication Union, and develops new standards apropos to the use of X.509-based PKIs with the Internet:

  1. Profiled X.509 version 3 certificates and version 2 Certificate Revocation Lists (CRL) for use with the Internet (RFC 2459)
  2. The Internet X.509 Public Key Infrastructure Qualified Certificates Profile (RFC 3039)
  3. The Internet X.509 Public Key Infrastructure Certificate Policy and certification Practices Framework (RFC 2527 - Informational)
  4. Profiles for the use of Attribute Certificates (RFC )
  5. LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) v2 for certificate and CRL storage (RFC 2587)

Famous quotes containing the words scope and/or standards:

In the works of man, everything is as poor as its author; vision is confined, means are limited, scope is restricted, movements are labored, and results are humdrum.
    Joseph De Maistre (1753–1821)

The technologist was the final guise of the white missionary, industrialization the last gospel of a dying race and living standards a substitute for a purpose in living.
    Max Frisch (1911–1991)
