Ideal Sheaf - Analytic Geometry

Analytic Geometry

In the theory of complex spaces, the Oka-Cartan theorem states that a closed subset A of a complex space is analytic if and only if the ideal sheaf of functions vanishing on A is coherent. This ideal sheaf also gives A the structure of a reduced closed complex subspace.

Famous quotes containing the words analytic and/or geometry:

“You, that have not lived in thought but deed,
Can have the purity of a natural force,
But I, whose virtues are the definitions
Of the analytic mind, can neither close
The eye of the mind nor keep my tongue from speech.”
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

I am present at the sowing of the seed of the world. With a geometry of sunbeams, the soul lays the foundations of nature.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
