Ibrahima Sonko

Ibrahima Sonko (born 22 January 1981 in Bignona in Senegal) is a Senegalese international professional footballer who currently plays for Turkish Süper Lig side Akhisar Belediyespor.

Sonko started his career with French club Grenoble before moving to England with Brentford in 2002. He impressed in the lower leagues and earned a move to Reading where he became a fan favourite and helped the side reach the Premier League for the first time. But after being relegated in 2008 he joined newly promoted Stoke City for a fee of £2 million. However his move to Stoke soon turned sour as some awful performances by Sonko meant he was dropped by manager Tony Pulis and he left on loan for Hull City and then Portsmouth before joining Ipswich Town in 2011. After one season at Portman Road he moved to Turkey to play for Akhisar Belediyespor.
