Ian Paice - Drum Technique

Drum Technique

Paice is primarily left-handed with a left-handed drum-kit set-up and uses the matched-grip approach. He is well known for his extremely fast and smooth single and double stroke rolls as well as single bass pedal speed. He did however perform once with a double-bass setup on the title track of the Fireball album and was performed live occasionally. He is also known for perfecting the one-handed roll as demonstrated on a Drummers World video.

Famous quotes containing the words drum and/or technique:

It shall be said that gods are stone.
Shall a dropped stone drum on the ground,
Flung gravel chime? Let the stones speak
With tongues that talk all tongues.
    Dylan Thomas (1914–1953)

The audience is the most revered member of the theater. Without an audience there is no theater. Every technique learned by the actor, every curtain, every flat on the stage, every careful analysis by the director, every coordinated scene, is for the enjoyment of the audience. They are our guests, our evaluators, and the last spoke in the wheel which can then begin to roll. They make the performance meaningful.
    Viola Spolin (b. 1911)
