Hurricane Mesa Test Facility

Hurricane Mesa Test Facility, in southern Utah, is owned and operated by Goodrich Aircraft Interior Products Propulsion Systems. It is the United States' only privately owned supersonic test track.

The test facility is located north of Utah State Route 9 between La Verkin, Utah and Zion National Park. The facility has several features visible from Highway 9: Two chess-pawn shaped water/camera towers spaced about a mile apart and a trailer projecting about 10 feet over the edge of the south face of the mesa.

Famous quotes containing the words hurricane, mesa, test and/or facility:

Staid middle age loves the hurricane passions of opera.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)

This mesa plain had an appearance of great antiquity, and of incompleteness; as if, with all the materials for world-making assembled, the Creator had desisted, gone away and left everything on the point of being brought together, on the eve of being arranged into mountain, plain, plateau. The country was still waiting to be made into a landscape.
    Willa Cather (1873–1947)

In my utter impotence to test the authenticity of the report of my senses, to know whether the impressions they make on me correspond with outlying objects, what difference does it make, whether Orion is up there in heaven, or some god paints the image in the firmament of the soul?
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The three great ends which a statesman ought to propose to himself in the government of a nation, are,—1. Security to possessors; 2. Facility to acquirers; and, 3. Hope to all.
    Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772–1834)
