Foreshadowing
- Perry Mandeville in a letter mentions he is being sent to Fettes in Scotland after being kicked out of Eton. This hints at Mandeville appearing in the Young Bond Fettes trilogy, as Bond will be sent to Fettes when he leaves Eton.
- Also, Mr. Merriot mentions a school trip to Kitzbühel, Austria. Part of the next book is set in Austria.
- Furthermore, in Pritpal's letter, he mentions that they have an attractive new maid from Ireland called Roan. This foreshadows the maid incident that results in Bond leaving Eton.
