Hunter Industries

Hunter Industries is a manufacturer of irrigation equipment for the landscaping and golf course industries, based in San Marcos, California.

Hunter produces pop-up gear-driven rotors, spray sprinklers, valves, controllers, central controllers and weather sensors. The company reports that it holds more than 250 product patents and 40 trademarks. The company's ACC Controller was voted the most significant new product at the Irrigation Association's 2005 International Irrigation Show. Hunter has had a history of product reliability challenges over the years.

The company was founded in 1981 by Edwin J. Hunter and Paul M. Hunter, to produce a compact landscape sprinkler called the "PGP" (an acronym meaning "professional gear-driven pop-up"). The current president and CEO is Richard E. Hunter, Edwin’s son. Richard's son, Greg Hunter, is the Chief Operating Officer. Most of the Hunter family is actively involved in the company. In a bid to broaden their product offerings, Hunter purchased FX Lighting and Grizzle & Hunter (renamed Hunter Custom Molding) and has integrated it into their product offerings.

Hunter Industries has one of the largest injection molding operations with over 150 molding machines at its San Marcos campus alone.

Famous quotes containing the words hunter and/or industries:

The skylines lit up at dead of night, the air- conditioning systems cooling empty hotels in the desert and artificial light in the middle of the day all have something both demented and admirable about them. The mindless luxury of a rich civilization, and yet of a civilization perhaps as scared to see the lights go out as was the hunter in his primitive night.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)

All industries are brought under the control of such people [film producers] by Capitalism. If the capitalists let themselves be seduced from their pursuit of profits to the enchantments of art, they would be bankrupt before they knew where they were. You cannot combine the pursuit of money with the pursuit of art.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
