Three district councils administer the district:

  1. Majlis Daerah Gerik or Gerik District Council, based at the town of Gerik - a district capital of Hulu Perak
  2. Majlis Daerah Lenggong or Lenggong District Council, based at the town of Lenggong
  3. Majlis Daerah Pengkalan Hulu or Pengkalan Hulu District Council, based at the town of Pengkalan Hulu (previously known as Keroh)
