Hulman Center

Hulman Center is a 10,200-seat multi-purpose arena in Terre Haute, Indiana, USA. Initially named the Hulman Civic-University Center, the facility opened on December 14, 1973. Funded by donations and bond issues after an initial $2.5 million challenge gift from philanthropist Tony Hulman and the Hulman family, it is home to the Indiana State Sycamores basketball team. It has hosted many concerts (including Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Carson, and John Denver), several NCAA championship events including an NCAA men's basketball tournament regional and the NCAA men's gymnastics finals, and the 1979 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball tournament title game.

Famous quotes containing the word center:

Actually being married seemed so crowded with unspoken rules and odd secrets and unfathomable responsibilities that it had no more occurred to her to imagine being married herself than it had to imagine driving a motorcycle or having a job. She had, however, thought about being a bride, which had more to do with being the center of attention and looking inexplicably, temporarily beautiful than it did with sharing a double bed with someone with hairy legs and a drawer full of boxer shorts.
