Classification
Huizhou Chinese was originally classified under Jianghuai Mandarin, but it is currently classified separately from Jianghuai.
The Chinese Academy of Social Science supported the separation of the Huizhou Chinese from the Jianghuai Mandarin dialects in 1987.
