In 2011, Krae Media remade Skærmtrolden Hugo for the Android system mobile phones as Hugo Retro Mania, featuring all-new graphics and gameplay system. Unlike the original, the game also includes Scylla (renamed as "Sculla") and her servant Don Croco (from the Hugo Jungle Island series), as well as the "Rope" end game from Hugo. There is also a special iPad version titled Hugo Retro Mania HD. The game found 170,000 Danish customers in the first seven weeks on the market and was number one in countries such as Germany, Austria, Norway, Thailand, Chile, Turkey and Poland. It won the 2011 Best App Ever Awards in the Best Kids Game category, Android division. Since August 2012, it is now available for free at App Store. An update was released on Halloween 2012.
The "Handcar" minigame was remade as Hugo Trolley Race (also Hugo Troll Race HD), announced to be released by Hugo Games A/S for the iPhone and iPad in early July 2012. The game has been downloaded more than 1 million times in just three days, making it the most downloaded app in 25 countries and the most successful Danish games for IOS. A new jungle theme came with an update and the game was later made free.
