Becoming An Outlaw
Liu Gao, the official in charge of Qingfeng Fort, arrests Song Jiang. Governor Murong Yanda of Qingzhou sends Huang Xin to lead some soldiers to escort Song Jiang back to Qingzhou. Song Jiang's friend Hua Rong confronts Liu Gao and rescues Song. Huang Xin is an associate of Hua Rong and he believes Liu Gao, thinking that Hua has decided to betray the imperial court by siding with an outlaw. Huang Xin tricks Hua Rong into attending a banquet under the pretext that he wants to help both sides resolve the conflict. Hua Rong is ambushed and captured by Huang Xin's men.
Huang Xin returns to Qingzhou with the two prisoners. Along the way, Yan Shun, Wang Ying and Zheng Tianshou lead the outlaws from Mount Qingfeng to attack Huang Xin's convoy and attempt to free the captives. Huang Xin takes on the three outlaw leaders alone but he is outnumbered and decides to retreat to Qingfeng Fort. Murong Yanda sends Qin Ming to subdue the outlaws but Qin falls into a trap and is captured by them. Song Jiang persuades Qin Ming to join them and Qin agrees and volunteers to convince Huang Xin to join them as well. Huang Xin agrees and he opens the gates of Qingfeng Fort for the outlaws to enter. The outlaws kill Liu Gao and his family for revenge and return to Liangshan Marsh in triumph.
