Hsinchu Metropolitan Area

According to the definition of metropolitan areas formerly used by the Republic of China government, Hsinchu metropolitan area (新竹都會區) includes the following areas:

Hsinchu City (core city) Hsinchu County
  • East District
  • North District
  • Xiangshan District
  • Zhubei City
  • Baoshan Township
  • Beipu Township
  • Hengshan Township
  • Qionglin Township
  • Xinpu Township
  • Zhudong Township

However, since the December 25, 2010 readjustments of the municipalities (an adjustment that did not affect Hsinchu directly), the Republic of China government has abolished the definition as obsolete.

Famous quotes containing the words metropolitan and/or area:

In metropolitan cases, the love of the most single-eyed lover, almost invariably, is nothing more than the ultimate settling of innumerable wandering glances upon some one specific object.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

During the Civil War the area became a refuge for service- dodging Texans, and gangs of bushwhackers, as they were called, hid in its fastnesses. Conscript details of the Confederate Army hunted the fugitives and occasional skirmishes resulted.
