Howards Alias - Drawings

Drawings

Drawings is an indie/alternative/post-punk outfit, consisting of two of the five former members of Howards Alias, David Ransom and Matthew Reynolds, with the additional appointment of Aaron Graham on the drum set. Drawings were born and became active in the latter stages of 2008, playing shows in and around the Southampton area. The band also spent time in Ashburton, Devon, demoing songs with good friend producer/engineer Peter Miles at Holne Bridge studios, for potential inclusion on future Drawings releases.

Since the band's birth in 2008, development saw the trio release several singles via the group's Myspace for streaming, until eventually free download. 2008 gave us songs "Sick To My Heart" & "Friends", with 2009 giving "Sore Thumb" & "Wallpaper".

August 15 of 2009 saw the band release their debut EP, The Seven Deadly Sins, and play their first headlining show in support of the release that very same evening at Hamptons in the trio's headquarters of Southampton. The EP was recorded and produced by the band themselves; however, it was mixed and mastered by Peter Miles.

The Seven Deadly Sins's release was described as a "concept" recording with each track entitled under one of the deadly sins, (sloth, gluttony, wrath, greed, lust, envy, pride), and Matthew Reynolds thought he could write a song about each of the seven deadly sins in the context of his life and his view on the good and/or bad side of each alleged sin.

Famous quotes containing the word drawings:

My drawings have been described as pre-intentionalist, meaning that they were finished before the ideas for them had occurred to me. I shall not argue the point.
    James Thurber (1894–1961)

The pleasures of the imagination are as it were only drawings and models which are played with by poor people who cannot afford the real thing.
    —G.C. (Georg Christoph)

    I get a little Verlaine
for Patsy with drawings by Bonnard although I do
think of Hesiod, trans. Richmond Lattimore or
Brendan Behan’s new play or Le Balcon or Les Negres
of Genet, but I don’t, I stick with Verlaine
after practically going to sleep with quandariness
    Frank O’Hara (1926–1966)
