Hot Tub

A hot tub is a large tub or small pool full of heated water and used for pleasure or hydrotherapy. Some have jets for massage purposes.

In contrast to a typical bathtub, a hot tub is designed to be used by more than one person at a time and is usually located outdoors. Also the water is not changed with each use, but is kept sanitary using the same methods as for swimming pool sanitation.

Hot tubs are sometimes also known as spas or by the trade name Jacuzzi.

Famous quotes containing the words hot and/or tub:

When shot, the deer seldom drops immediately, but runs sometimes for hours, the hunter in hot pursuit. This phase, known as ‘deer running,’ develops fleet runners, particularly in deer- jacking expeditions when the law is pursuing the hunters as swiftly as the hunters are pursuing the deer.
—For the State of Maine, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

I waited alone, in the company of orchids, roses and violets who—like people waiting beside you, but to whom you are unknown—maintained a silence which their individuality of living things rendered more imposing and in their chilly manner received the heat from an incandescent coal fire, preciously placed behind a crystal glass, in a white marble tub where it dropped, from time to time, its dangerous rubies.
    Marcel Proust (1871–1922)
