The Hot Dance Club Songs chart (also known as Club Play Singles, and formerly known as Hot Dance Club Play and Hot Dance/Disco) is a weekly national survey of the songs that are most popular in U.S. dance clubs. It is compiled by Billboard exclusively from playlists submitted by nightclub disc jockeys who must apply and meet certain criteria to become "Billboard-reporting DJs."

The current number-one song on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart for the issue dated December 15, 2012 is "Diamonds" by Rihanna.

Famous quotes containing the words hot, dance, club and/or songs:

    I am ashamed
That thou hast power to shake my manhood thus,
That these hot tears, which break from me perforce,
    Should make thee worth them.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Ah, it is sweet on the hills,
    to dance in sacred faun-pelt,
to dance until one falls faint,
    to beat the sacred dance-beat
    until one drops down
    worn out.
    Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)

He loved to sit silent in a corner of his club and listen to the loud chattering of politicians, and to think how they all were in his power—how he could smite the loudest of them, were it worth his while to raise his pen for such a purpose.
    Anthony Trollope (1815–1882)

How learned he bitter songs of lost Iambe,
Or that a cup-shaped breast is nothing vile?
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)
