Hot and Sour Soup

Hot and sour soup can refer to soups from several Asian culinary traditions. In all cases, the soup contains ingredients to make it both spicy and sour.

Famous quotes containing the words hot, sour and/or soup:

For do but note a wild and wanton herd
Or race of youthful and unhandled colts
Fetching mad bounds, bellowing and neighing loud,
    Which is the hot condition of their blood;
If they but hear perchance a trumpet sound,
Or any air of music touch their ears,
You shall perceive them make a mutual stand,
Their savage eyes turned to a modest gaze
By the sweet power of music.
    William Shake{peare (1564–1616)

    Have mercy, little pillow,
    stay mute and uncaring,
hear not one word of disaster!
    Stay close, little sour feather,
    little fellow full of salt.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

He scream’d out—‘Take the soup away!
O take the nasty soup away!
    I won’t have any soup to-day.’
    Heinrich Hoffmann (1809–1894)
