For Christians, the Land of Israel is considered holy because of its association with the birth, ministry, Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, whom Christians regard as the Savior or Messiah, as well as the Bible's mention of it being the land of his people, the Jews (according to the Bible). Outside of the places traditionally associated with Christian personalities, the territory or the land of the Holy Land bears no mention in Christianity.

Famous quotes containing the word christianity:

I believe that men are generally still a little afraid of the dark, though the witches are all hung, and Christianity and candles have been introduced.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

What’s the greatest enemy of Christianity to-day? Frozen meat. In the past only members of the upper classes were thoroughly sceptical, despairing, negative. Why? Among other reasons, because they were the only people who could afford to eat too much meat. Now there’s cheap Canterbury lamb and Argentine chilled beef. Even the poor can afford to poison themselves into complete scepticism and despair.
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)
