Hollister Peak is a 1,404 feet (428 m) volcanic plug located near Morro Bay, California. It is one of the Nine Sisters, and receives its name from the family that lived at its base in 1884. It was of religious importance to the Chumash. Hollister Peak is on private property but within certain days of the year the peak is open to the public to climb during holiday's and for Indian tribes for religious purposes. The peak has about 5 trails on the east side and several other trails also on the west side of the peak which faces the 7th sister on Morro Bay rock.
Famous quotes containing the word peak:
“Sleep shall neither night nor day
Hang upon his penthouse lid;
He shall live a man forbid;
Weary sevn-nights, nine times nine,
Shall he dwindle, peak and pine;
Though his bark cannot be lost,
Yet it shall be tempest-tossed.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
