Hocus Pocus is a 1993 American comedy fantasy film directed by Kenny Ortega. It stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as a family of witches, known as the Sanderson Sisters, who are inadvertently resurrected by a teenager named Max (Omri Katz) along with his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and girlfriend Allison (Vinessa Shaw). Despite receiving negative reviews from critics during its theatrical release, the film gained a cult following on home video.
